Emobility set out to create a digital backbone for India’s rapidly expanding electric rickshaw ecosystem. The platform manages fleets, maps user journeys, optimizes operations, and delivers real-time IoT-based data for improved sustainability. Riders access a robust app for booking closest rides, tracking fares, and receiving personalized green energy tips. Fleet operators benefit from predictive analytics on vehicle performance, usage trends, and energy efficiency, supported by scalable microservices and secure cloud tools. The project transformed e-rickshaw mobility into a data-driven, eco-friendly solution for urban transit.

Challenges

Key technical hurdles included integrating diverse IoT hardware for real-time e-rickshaw tracking and energy monitoring, architecting the backend for horizontal microservice scalability, and securing complex payment flows. Building a seamless user interface required extensive UX research, while deep analytics for driver and fleet optimization demanded reliable data pipelines and reporting. Ensuring interoperability, uptime, and regulatory compliance in fast-changing city environments posed ongoing product and engineering challenges.

Process

Development began with mapping workflows for operators, drivers, and riders. Microservices powered modular deployment for everything from booking, payments, and ride tracking to energy consumption dashboards. The team integrated IoT APIs for on-vehicle sensors, built secure payment flows, and designed a user-first app for ease of transit and trip management. Analytical and reporting features leveraged rich usage data for continual fleet improvement. Agile cycles incorporated user and operator feedback, targeting real-world fleet operations and growth.
